On Wednesday, Shohei Ohtani hit his first home run in a Dodgers uniform, as Los Angeles ended its three-game series against the visiting San Francisco Giants with a 5-4 victory.
In his ninth game of the season, Ohtani knocked off Giants left-hander Taylor Rodgers deep in the right-center field bench in the seventh inning, ending the longest opening home run drought of his major league career. Ohtani finished with 2 hits and 2 RBIs in 4 at-bats.
The Dodgers have scored at least five runs in all nine games this season, extending the franchise record and closing in on the New York Yankees’ 1932 record of 13 games.
Tyler Glasnow (2-0) picked up his second win in three games, Miguel Rojas added a home run, and the Dodgers finished 6-1 in their first home run of the season.

Nick Pivetta combined with four relief pitchers for an eight-hit win, giving Boston its third straight win over Oakland.
Emanuel Valdez scored the only run of the game on a sacrifice fly in the fourth inning, giving Pivetta (1-1) the win in a pitching battle with Oakland’s Ross Stripling (0-2).
Pivetta had five hits for the Athletics in five innings, and Kenley Jansen got his second save with an escape in the close ninth inning. Strilling pitched seven innings, allowing eight hits and one run.
Astros 8, Blue Jays 0
Yordan Alvarez hit a home run in the second inning, had four hits and three RBIs, and Houston defeated visiting Toronto in a three-game softball game.
Jose Altuve and Jeremy Pena also pitched well for Houston, but Cristian Javier (1-0) allowed one hit in five innings. The Astros defeated the Blue Jays 15-1 despite Houston’s pitching staff issuing seven walks.
Chris Bassett (0-2) allowed nine hits and four runs in 4 1/3 innings for the Blue Jays.
Guards 8, Sailors 0
Jose Ramirez had two doubles and two RBIs, Logan Allen pitched 6 2/3 scoreless innings, and Cleveland defeated host Seattle.
Guardians’ leadoff hitter, Stephen Cowan, went 3 for 5 at bats and scored 3 runs, winning 2 of 3 games in the series. Allen (2-0) had four hits, three walks and six strikeouts.
Mariners starter George Kirby (1-1) pitched just 3 2/3 innings, scoring eight runs on 10 hits.
Angels 10, Marlins 2
Miguel Sano reached base in the fourth inning, Patrick Sandoval bounced back from a memorable opening day start, and Los Angeles won its third straight game against host Miami.
The Angels have now won four straight games, but the Marlins are currently 0-7, the longest losing streak to start a season in franchise history.
Miami’s AJ Puk (0-2) pitched four innings, allowing four runs (two earned) on five hits and three walks, with five strikeouts.
